Abstract
Common pulmonary vein obstruction is a very rare subtype of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection that does not have a direct connection between the common pulmonary vein and the heart or the superior vena cava. Symptoms such as cyanosis and tachypnea, based on severe pulmonary congestion starting shortly after birth, progress rapidly, and all cases have resulted in death with only medical treatment. To date, only one case has survived after surgical treatment. The authors report a case of this condition that they successfully operated on. (Translated from Japanese)
