Abstract
A case of stenosis and obstruction of the pulmonary veins associated with pulmonary artery hypertension and microcytic anemia, is presented. The child was completely normal until the age of 5 years. A severe attack of pertussis followed by repeated pneumonias and the appearance of increasing shortness of breath with congestive failure led to death at age 12. This clinical course suggests that the stenosis may have been acquired rather than congenital. Support for this hypothesis may be found in the anatomy of the pulmonary veins.
